Our April meetup will include a visit from Aliaksei Petsiuk of Western University's Free Appropriate Sustainability Technology (FAST) Research Group (https://www.appropedia.org/Category:FAST). Aliaksei works with Dr. Joshua Pearce on computer vision- and AI-based anomaly detection and segmentation in additive manufacturing. Their study presents an approach to layer-wise failure tracking and evaluation of both global and local 3D printing modes. The developed method can serve as an intelligent suspension tool designed to save time and materials, as well as can generate adaptive machine actions to improve manufacturing reliability in the future. He will give us an overview of their project, and then we'll have open discussion. As always, register for the event to get the Zoom link, which we send out a few hours ahead of the event.
