Los Angeles Southwest College is the destination for a special youth edition of Startup Weekend. At a time when Silicon Valley and venture funds are addressing concerns about limited diversity in technology and venture capital sectors, this special edition will begin the process of engaging inner city youth and helping them to embrace new technology, gaming and venture funding. The goal is to create a paradigm shift and move inner city youth from just being consumers to being creators of new technologies and gaming systems.
Startup Weekends are 54 hour long events where developers, designers and marketers, product enthusiasts and others come together, share ideas, form teams, build products and launch companies. Ticket prices range from $15 for students to attend the opening and demo session, to $75 early-bird and $99 for team members to register.
