Pasadena's own world-class design school, Art Center College of Design, known for its strong industry ties, recently appointed Guillaume Aretos as the new Entertainment Design Chair, after years as concept designer and character animator at DreamWorks. MotorTrend worked with a handful of ArtCenter folks to decide what the future Apple Car might look like. ArtCenter is offering $100 discount tickets (Discount code: BOLDpro2016) for their upcoming BOLD: The ArtCenter Symposium for Creative Entrepreneurs.

In other big news from neighboring JPL, Michael Watkins has been named the new Director of JPL. Did you know? JPL Scientists Want To Talk To You About What Is Really Going On With The Planet’s Water Supply.

In other space news... this book, Rise of the Rocket Girls, was recently published and is a cool story about the elite females recruited to work at JPL as "human computers," they broke boundaries of both gender and science. Meanwhile Ecliptic Enterprises Corporation tests LightSail 2 project for the Planetary Society .

In the community workspace world, not one, but two new co-working spaces have opened, WeWork and Spacecraft, both in Old Pasadena.

If you've driven on Union recently between Fair Oaks and Raymond, you may have noticed a very large black, chic looking building being built. That's Ayzenberg Group, a top creative agency focused on Frontline Marketing, led by ArtCenter grad, Eric Ayzenberg. The company is on the front lines of building a new platform which will change the way brand choose influencers and they've hired the right team to do it.
