Hackaday, a global collaborative community for engineers, designers and creatives of all types, recently turned 2! An initiative acquired by Pasadena-based Supplyframe in 2013, Hackaday is all about collaboration, learning, and providing incentives for everyone in the community to stop procrastinating and to build something amazing.
In the last two years, the Hackaday.io community has come up with projects big and small, retro and futuristic, dangerous and fantastic. “We’re excited that over 120,000 people belong to Hackaday.io and our future of encouraging people to make an impact continues,” says Sophi Kravitz, Director of Technical Marketing for Hackaday.
What makes Hackaday.io unique as a virtual hackerspace and global playground of sorts for creative minds, is the interest in collaboration, learning and sharing that occurs between members and within the community. Working together, connections occur which allow for relevant projects which in turn have gone on to become successful Kickstarters and companies.
One of the ways Hackaday builds community is through cool competitions like the Hackaday Prize. An initiative to encourage people to learn new skills and build stuff that matters, the Hackaday Prize awards a trip to space along with other astounding prizes.
Innovate Pasadena gives major props to Hackaday for the awesome community it has created and fostered in the last two years. Both Hackaday.io and the Supplyframe Design Lab will host a special meetup for the NASA SpaceApps-Pasadena challenge on March 24th. Stay tuned for more details on that. The 3rd edition of the Hackaday Prize launches March 14th.
