Event Details
Teachers of the visually impaired (TVIs) always have to have a bit of the maker spirit to come up with ways to teach with tactile lessons. This month, we will have two veteran TVIs, Lore Schindler and Michael Cheverie, to talk about their experiences trying to use 3D printing and expand its use with their peers. Your hosts Joan and Rich will talk about their ongoing project to bring together TVIs who want a model designed and people who are looking for an interesting design project (check it out here: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/3dp_edu_models). Finally, we will discuss how some of the lessons learned in this community might have broader application in hands-on learning for all students.
Speakers will be on for just half an hour or so. For the rest of the time, bring a cool print or a machine you're working on, or feel free to come even if you're just wanting to know what the technology looks like and what it can do. Educators using 3D printing in the new school year are particularly welcome- come and compare notes with experts! Thanks as always to our host, the fabulous Supplyframe DesignLab, and to our refreshments sponsor, Innovate Pasadena.
