Event Details

About this Event

Note: This is a 6 week online learning experience that you can purchase by single classes or the full 6 week course. Below you will find the course schedule and topic. You will receive the Zoom access link by email within one week prior to the event.

Overview

AI and automated decision making systems are becoming more prominent in our lives and without much oversight, transparency or accountability. Governments, agencies and private companies use them in relation to predictive policing, school admissions, health decisions, welfare or benefit eligibility, immigration, criminal risk, housing, recruitment and credit scoring.

What are the principles that guide AI to make decisions? Can algorithms always make good decisions? How about fair decisions? There are many hidden ethical issues behind the automated decision making system. The program discusses the implications of bias in data science & AI systems, and the importance of ethical decisions in developing and implementing these algorithms.
