Deton Corp. Raises $600,000 in Seed Round - Pasadena Bioscience Collaborative

Deton Corp., a medical device company developing innovative products for the diagnosis of lower respiratory infections, has secured $600,000 in an oversubscribed seed financing round. The round was led by a venture fund based in Shanghai and included angel investor participation. “The seed financing comes at a pivotal time for the company, as we accelerate our ongoing efforts in product and market development,” said Patrick Sislian, Ph.D., CEO of Deton Corp. “This financing gets us closer to our goal of becoming the world-leaders in non-invasive sample collection from the lower respiratory tract.” READ MORE

HTC’s Vive X Invests in ObEN

ObEN, an artificial intelligence (AI) innovator focused on voice and speech, has been selected by HTC’s Vive X Accelerator Program as part of its $100 million fund’s inaugural class. Founded in 2014, ObEN’s proprietary technology personalizes the voices of virtual characters with the user’s own voice in various virtual reality (VR) environments. LEARN MORE

PA Fund Makes Its First Investment in Nevados Engineering

The Pasadena Angels announced the first investment from their PA Fund 1 (The Fund). The Fund invested an additional $75K in Nevados Engineering, a clean tech company whose solar single-axis-tracker enables ground-based installation on virtually any terrain; improving on solar project economics. The Pasadena Angels have previously invested $240K in Nevados, leading a round of $390K with funding from other angel groups. This additional funding from The Fund will allow Nevados to fully execute on their grant funding from the U.S. Department of Energy’s SunShot Initiative. READ MORE
