Innovate Pasadena (IP), a non‐profit organization committed to promoting Pasadena’s innovation cluster, is seeking a seasoned professional to manage its daily operational needs. This position will be responsible for maintaining the organization’s master calendar of programs and events and ensuring timely event production from concept to completion. This position will work closely with the IP Board and Committees on the development of ideas for future programs of interest to the innovation community. This individual will serve as a point‐of‐contact for Program Innovator requests for general marketing support, back‐office support and ancillary requests. This position will be expected to have an understanding of the SoCal tech community and develop strategic partnerships within that network to bolster IP’s reputation, diversity of programs, and leverage relationships to increase IP’s exposure. With general direction from the Program and Marketing Committees, this position will implement event marketing, oversee logistics, recruit and coordinate volunteers, monitor program budgets, select vendors with Committee approval, and submit post‐event reports/metrics to the Board of Directors.
This position will assist the Board as appropriate and refer complex issues to the Executive Committee. Board responsibilities include assembling monthly meeting packets prior to each meeting (agenda and additional attachments/materials as needed), monitoring quorum, taking minutes and submitting to the Board President for approval, and ensuring the maintenance of files as needed. The Operations Director will be responsible for all Board communications, notices, requests for support and the organization of any off‐site retreats or board development activities.
This position will work closely with the Executive Committee & Treasurer on the development and implementation of the organization’s annual budget and sponsorship program. Administrative activities include the maintenance of an annual schedule of corporate/institutional partner renewals, generate reports indicating the status and results of fundraising efforts and overall financial activities.
The Operations Director will implement marketing objectives established by the Marketing Committee and will serve as an ambassador of the organization by attending industry events as well as purchasing corporate/exhibit tables at events and representing the organization. This individual will manage the production of electronic newsletters and marketing collateral needed to promote IP and will be responsible for basic website maintenance and list management.
Experience and Skills Needed:
- Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree
- The equivalent of 3‐5 years experience in marketing, program management or development fields
- Demonstrated professionalism, initiative, follow‐through and attention to detail.
Supervision: Reports to the Board President/Executive Committee.
Salary: Commensurate with experience
